Township, village, town, borough or city websites are a great venue through which to reach out to citizens about aggressive driving enforcement. Residents access these sites frequently to find local information. This example is from Ferguson Township in Centre County.

Survival 101 Training in Erie County by PSP Area 5 Survival 101 Trainings

A Survival 101 class was held at the Perseus House School of Excellence in Erie County for 75 students in December. PSP Troopers Greenlee, Brown and Stevic presented the program. Police training to present these programs to students can be scheduled by contacting LEL John Conti.

Trunk mounted signs were delivered to participating Police Departments throughout Area 5 in October. These pictures show Chief Osborne & Ofc. Taggart of the Grove City Police Dept. (Mercer County) and Cpl. Chimera of the Millcreek Twp. Police Department Traffic Division (Erie County) displaying their new signs. Although the signs show Aggressive Driving Enforcement they also can be switched to read “Seat Belt Enforcement” and “DUI” patrol. Participating Aggressive Driving police departments that also wish to receive one of the new multi-use trunk mounted signs should contact LEL John Conti.

Area 5 has received additional vehicle display signs. These new signs can display three different messages, Aggressive Driving Patrol - Seat Belt Enforcement - DUI Patrol. Any Participating Police Department that wishes to use Vehicle Displays should contact Area 5 LEL John Conti.

Route 322 from State College through Potters Mills to the Mifflin/Centre County line has been targeted for Aggressive Driving Violations with special attention to speeding. This is due to a high number of crashes and fatals . There will be NO WARNINGS issued in this enforcement area. Details are being conducted by the State College Police Department and the PA. State Police with funds provided for under the Aggressive Driving and Enforcement Program.

Police Departments across Area 5 saw limited Aggressive Driving enforcement activity during the first month of Wave 1 due to the severe winter weather.

Area 5 welcomed 14 new Police Departments to the Aggressive Driving enforcement program for 2009-2010. If any Police departments in our Area desire additional information on how to join either the Aggressive Driving Enforcement or BUPA programs, please contact Areaal LEL John Conti.

Patton Twnshp Operation Safe Holiday ROCK Drive Safe PA PSAs Underway

A new PSA with the “Drive Safe PA” slogan has recently been distributed to all grant participating departments. This 30-second PSA is ready to be personalized and recorded on local radio stations.

Police departments across the 15 counties of Area 5 have had great success with recording PSA´s in the past, and we look forward to success with this new PSA.
